A Family Legacy, Lovingly Reimagined

Quinta de Lagos is more than just a place to stay, it's a family-run haven with over two decades of stories, memories, and care poured into every corner.

White two-story villa with a tiled roof, windows, and a balcony, surrounded by greenery and a stone pathway leading to the entrance, under a bright blue sky.

A Labour of Love: 20 Years of Quinta de Lagos

Originally known as Quinta Santo Phunurius (you’ll still spot the original name tile by the gates!), this estate has been owed by our family for over 20 years.

The current team took over the operation in 2021 with fresh energy and big dreams. In 2022, we reimagined the estate from the ground up, transforming the villa into three flexible self-contained or interconnecting apartments, reconfiguring underused spaces, and giving the whole villa a thoughtful upgrade while protecting its original soul. (We’re working on a full renovation story—stay tuned!)

Today, the Quinta is a peaceful, nature-soaked escape with all the charm of its past: traditional Portuguese patterned tiles, charming archways, and even the original pool (rumoured to be the first in-ground pool west of Albufeira!)

We also have a range of exciting new improvements and enhancements planned.... Watch this space!

Meet the Crook Family
(and Friends)

We’re a small but mighty team combining original wise-hands with second generation enthusiasm, keeping the Quinta magic alive one thoughtful detail at a time.

Johan

The day-to-day captain of the ship. He’ll likely be your first point of contact, and the one keeping everything running smoothly throughout your stay. Long-time local with next-level recommendations, from beach spots to hidden gems in Lagos. From getting hands-on with construction work during the villa renovation back in 2022, to now running the company as the executive, he’s a central part of Quinta de Lagos and knows every knook and cranny like the back of his hand.

Two men sitting on wicker chairs at a small table, clinking beer bottles, smiling, making a high-five. The table has beer bottles, cups, and snacks. There are large potted plants behind them, and a backpack on the floor. One man wears a blue shirt and sunglasses, the other a baseball cap and shorts.

Roman

One of the OGs when the second gen family joined in to bring a new sparkle to Quinta de Lagos. He got super hands on along with Johan and Duncan to carry out the villa renovations in 2022, kicked off the new hospitality company, and managed the day-to-day operations. He’s now a self-employed carpenter, but still drops in every now and then to give the properties some TLC with his woodworking and constructions skills!

Vanessa

Queen Bee of our professional cleaning team and manager of all things housekeeping. With a meticulous attention to detail, she’s in charge of making sure everything’s looking spick and span ready for your arrival, and adding all the little touches our guests love so much—shelves lined with hand-picked shells, thriving indoor plants, and all things decor. Often spotted in a flurry of linens, living her best Mamma Mia life with a radiant smile and a warm welcome.

A woman sitting on a stone ledge outdoors, smiling, wearing an orange shirt and denim shorts, holding a bunch of green leafy lettuce, with trees and a building in the background.

Gaïana

La creative, who designed and painted the murals and signs around the Quinta and handles all things marketing and design. She also runs our socials (tag us in your pics and you’ll make her day!) You might catch her snapping content around the estate, or decking up the properties with her prints (that are also for sale).

Duncan

Our in-house Mr. Fix-It-Duck and savvy business man. Like a rare bird, you might spot him around the estate in glimpses while he’s back home from his work ventures. Just as likely to be found wielding a paintbrush as he is talking business. Loves a good chat—philosophy, politics, the mysteries of the universe… if you’re up for it, he’s your guy.

And a few special mentions

Adrian - Not technically family, but might as well be. He’s the green-thumbed genius behind our blooming gardens, transforming the estate into a literal botanical wonderland. We’re so lucky to have him.

The Garden Gang - Our honorary residents: the goats, geese and chickens in the neighbouring field, and the family of frogs and terrapins in the ponds. They’re a big part of what makes the estate so special, and they love saying hi to our guests—especially little ones!

The Gleam Team - Of course, a shoutout to our meticulous & hardworking cleaning team. They make everything sparkle and shine, and do it with a smile.

We Believe In Personal, Thoughtful Hospitality.

We’re deeply connected to our land and want everyone to experience the same peace it brings us. We want to create a space that helps you slow down, reconnect, and make the kind of memories you’ll cherish forever.

Whether it’s a family holiday, a solo retreat, a romantic escape, or a full-on wellness event, our estate adapts to you.

The Guest Experience

We take a hands-on approach, whilst respecting your privacy.

We’re big on greeting our guests upon arrival, giving you a warm welcome, a quick tour of the property and grounds, and making sure you have everything you need to make the most of your stay. If for any reason we’re not able to be there for your arrival, one of us will pop by the next day to check in and say hello!

As a self-catered accommodation, we’ll leave you to relax and enjoy your holiday in peace, but we’re just a call away if you need anything.

As long-time locals, we love sharing all the best spots and things to do in Lagos and the surrounding areas. If you want any recommendations, just ask us during check-in or pop us a message.

Why Lagos?

We’ve lived here for over 20 years and we’re still smitten. Lagos is that rare combo of charming streets, lively energy, and chilled-out surf-town soul. It’s got nightlife when you want it, quiet corners when you don’t.

Think stunning beaches, cliffside hikes, charming cobblestone streets, bustling energy, and the best brunch spots in the Algarve.

From Our Family to Yours.

This place fills our hearts and we hope it does the same for you. We hope you feel the love and care the moment you arrive.

We can’t wait to welcome you!

Love,
The Quinta de Lagos Family
